Every year, the MCN conference draws together professionals working at the cutting edge of museum practice to examine the current trends facing the sector. Similarly, the NMC Horizon Report > 2015 Museum Edition (
go.nmc.org/museum2015), guided by the input from a panel of over fifty international museum experts, helps museums and universities set priorities for technology planning, research, & practice. Responding to the needs of the sector, the 2015 Museum Edition added new sections that outline the implications of trends and challenges for policy makers, museum leaders, & practitioners.
In this conversational, talk show style discussion, presenters (and the audience) will together explore the synergies between #MCN2015 and the current Horizon Report. We will draw links between topics featured in the report and the major themes and conversations that surface during the conference, including topics like cross-museum collaboration, emphasis on online audiences, location-based services, increasing focus on data collection, and more.
The session will conclude by looking towards the future and asking "What do we think we’ll be talking about in 2016, and why?"
